Ancient Tamilakam is an area occupied by ancient tamilians that covers southern part of Indian Subcontinent. It includes the present Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep and southern parts of Andra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Sources Of Ancient Tamilakam
The major sources of Ancient Tamilakam are the following;
* Megalithic Monuments
* Sangam Literature
* Iron tools
* Roman Gold coins
* Inscriptions.
MEGALITHIC MONUMENTS
Megalithic monuments are the historical monuments that are built in ancient tamilakam under which URN burials of deceased persons were cremated.
SANGAM LITERATURE
These are the ancient literature that prevailed in Ancient Tamilakam between 300 BC- 200CE. This includes Tamil songs, ancient writings, paintings etc...
